My passion for sailing began in my late thirties and quickly became a way of life. With our first yacht, we discovered life at sea as a family. The freedom to work independently and location-free inspired us to take the next step.
In 2022, we sold our house and chose this very catamaran—spacious, comfortable, and perfectly suited for long periods on board. As a physician working in digital medicine, the yacht offered both retreat and focus.

I grew up sailing, from my first Optimist on a small lake to family trips through the Dutch canals and the IJsselmeer, later extending to the North Sea.
In 2004, I met my husband Peter, and in 2017 we returned to sailing as a family with a Bavaria 38. With our children, the boat became a place of learning, adventure, and shared memories—including a memorable voyage to St Katharine Docks in London.
As our family grew, so did our desire for more space and the open sea. SY GEMMA was chosen to make longer passages, family life on board, and welcoming guests not only possible, but truly enjoyable.
Why We Are Opening This Next Chapter
After spending the winter months in the Canary Islands, our time living on board has reached a natural point of transition. Life on the yacht, the places we explored, and the rhythm of everyday living at sea have come together in a complete and well-established way.
Following a period of leave, our children will now be returning to their regular schools. As a result, we will no longer be using the yacht on a full-time basis. At the same time, the vessel remains fully operational, actively used and carefully maintained.
Over many thousands of nautical miles, we have gained extensive experience with this yacht. We know her systems, her behaviour at sea and her long-term liveaboard setup in detail.
Our intention is to pass the yacht on in a way that feels right: transparent, well prepared, and supportive for those who will continue using her as a real home on the water.
